How Seashore Food Distributors Evolved

Seashore Foods was established in 1959 as an egg and poultry company by Harry Satt.  A Holocaust survivor, Mr. Satt migrated to the United States in 1950 to start a new life with his family.  At first he was a construction foreman in New York City, but later became involved in the chicken farming industry in South Jersey.  Mr. Satt started in the retail end and gradually grew into more wholesale business which evolved into Seashore Food Distributors.

Over the years the company grew steadily and in 1965 Ocean Creamery, an allied business, was acquired.  In 1971 Mr. Satt's son, Henry, associated himself full-time in the business.  The company moved into its present modern facility in May of 1983 after four prior upgrades in facilities.  In 1984 Harry Satt passed away, but his legacy continues.

With Henry’s son, Michael, and son-in-law, Jerry Kronemeyer, joining the Seashore Foods management team in 2000, we became a third generation company.  Michael and Jerry bring with them the youth and enthusiasm to assure our future growth and success.

 In 2007 Seashore Food Distributors completed a new addition which more than doubled the freezer capacity and added an additional layer of food safety to the products sold.  The previous 3800 square foot freezer was converted to a multi-temperature refrigerated space to accommodate our growing produce business. 

In 2016, Seashore acquired the assets of the M. Zukerman Foods in Vineland NJ. Zukerman operated in the southern/central New Jersey and SE Pennsylvania market for over 100 years and was a pillar in the southern NJ foodservice community. This acquisition helped balance the seasonal nature of our business while expanding our reach into new markets and segments.

Today Seashore Food Distributors is the largest independent broadline distributor in the area.  The company provides a full range of fresh, frozen and canned foods, as well as paper products and chemicals to restaurants, schools, hotels, health care, and institutional accounts in South Jersey.  We are proud of the company's tradition as a customer-oriented service organization; and realize the commitment required of each employee for continued success.
